Professional Term grants are awarded for special expenses related to research, writing, or instructional activities, including fees, copying charges, supplies, travel for research purposes, and comparable expenses up to $500. This is the only category of FPDC support that funds activity during the academic year. Funding for Professional Term expenses during the academic year is not included in the $4500 limit for summer grants.
A final Professional Term proposal must be approved by department and division chairs, reviewed according to division practice, and submitted to the Office of Academic Affairs no later than the first day of the term prior to the faculty member's scheduled Professional Term. Faculty members wishing to apply for FPDC funding should append their grant proposal (see below) to this proposal.
FPDC will review grant applications no later than the term prior to the Professional Term and will recommend applicants for funding through the Office of Academic Affairs. Funding requests submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
Funding for conference attendance during Professional Term should be requested through the Office of Academic Affairs travel form, not FPDC.
