Sustainability

A Commitment to Sustainability

As a teaching institution, we have a special responsibility to introduce, support and encourage core sustainability values and actions into all aspects of campus life. Our campus community is actively making smart choices to limit our impact on environmental systems. Not only will these actions enhance the North Central experience for current generations, but will prepare students for a world that increasingly relies on sound sustainable decision making.

Our commitment to sustainability spans all aspects of the campus, integrating operations and maintenance with curricular and co-curricular sustainability initiatives.  Such successful projects include the LEED Silver certified Res/Rec Center, Community Garden, Kaufman Dining Hall Composting project, Cardinal Red Bike Program, the annual No Waste Picnic, many recycling initiatives, and so much more.  Most notably, the College was included in “The Princeton Review’s Guide to 311 Green Colleges,” acknowledging North Central as one of the most environmentally responsible colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.

Follow the Sustainability Office on Facebook to stay current with sustainability-related happenings throughout campus.
